German violinist Felix Froschhammer captivates audiences worldwide with his wide-ranging artistry and versatility. He is First Violinist of the casalQuartett and Concertmaster of the Ensemble Symphonique Neuchâtel as well as the Sinfonietta de Lausanne. He also performs regularly as a soloist and is a key member of Tri i Dve, an ensemble dedicated to Balkan music. Since 2025, Felix has been Professor of Violin at the Haute École de Musique Vaud Valais Fribourg.
His festival appearances include the Salzburger Festspiele, Gstaad Menuhin Festival, Rheingau Musik Festival, and Lucerne Festival, alongside performances at prestigious venues in Shanghai, Bangkok, Moscow, Singapore, Milan, and Paris. His concerts have been broadcast on Radio France, Bayerischer Rundfunk, Österreichischer Rundfunk, Südwestdeutscher Rundfunk, Deutschlandfunk, Radio Suisse Romande Espace 2, France 2, Arte TV, and Mezzo. He has shared the stage with leading artists such as Gautier Capuçon, Lawrence Power, Fazıl Say, Felicity Lott, and Maximilian Hornung. Since 2018, he has also served as Artistic Director of the Festival du Jura in Switzerland.
Born in Munich, Felix began violin studies at the age of seven with Olga Voitova, making his orchestral debut at ten with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester. He later studied with Pierre Amoyal and Salvatore Accardo, graduating with highest honors from the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne in 2007, and subsequently received a special award from the Sinfonietta de Lausanne for his professional achievements.
As a prizewinner of the International Wolfgang Jacobi Competition with the Duo Froschhammer and a recipient of a Bavarian Music Fund scholarship, Felix has established himself as a sought-after chamber musician. He has toured internationally as soloist with Pierre Amoyal and the Camerata de Lausanne, performing the Double Concertos of Vivaldi and Bach in both concerts and broadcasts.
Felix’s discography includes violin–cello repertoire on ArcoDiva as well as numerous award-winning recordings with the casalQuartett for Solo Musica. His recent CDs have been honored with the Echo Klassik, the German Record Critics’ Award, and the Supersonic Award.
